We are very sorry to report here that Philip Kerr has passed away today, March 23, from cancer.
I read this earlier today too.
Waiting eagerly for the next book and now it looks to be the last.
So very sad for us fans of Kerr.
I am truly saddened by this news.
Henk Vermeulen, Nederland.
I am very sad about the passing of this fantastic writer. I already have his Bernie books. I became interested in Philip in the period that was masterfully described by Philip. Every time I've been looking forward to a new book about Bernie. 1 of the best writers has passed away. Much desire for his family. Henk Vermeulen, the Netherlands.
Notice from EL PAIS (Spanish):
A tribute from Crime Fiction Lover:
My favourite author is gone, and I can't believe it. His futuristic novels had me hooked from the start, but reading the Berlin Noir trilogy while living in Berlin was unforgettable.
And then what a joy to find Bernie back after an 18 year pause.
R.I.P. Philip Kerr and Ruhe in Frieden Bernie Gunther. I will miss you both.
all we learn and all we love may seem nothing when measured against the inevitable onslaught that is the end of a life.
But it is everything.
So long Philip.
Obituary from the Guardian:
A sad day.
Quercus pays tribute to "cherished" author Philip Kerr:
The press release from Quercus, Philip Kerr's U.K. publisher:
The New York Times obit:
Shocked and saddened
Since 1994 I have waited for the release of his books. I just saw the word “was” attached to the new Bernie book. I am so sad. He will always remain my favourite author. I always thought that “Dark Matter” was much better than the other more popular book at the time. What a great legacy of novels.
Terrible news. An outstanding author. I looked forward to each new Gunther novel with great anticipation. My sympathies to the family.
From Signature Reads:
R.I.P. Philip Kerr. All my sympathies to his beloved.
Anyone know if he managed to pen the final Bernie Gunther story?
I miss this guy, Philip Kerr everyday
